About
Bevor nihil & rat da war, war nihil & rat da.
This is our brilliant site-integrated blog, where you will find a menagerie of helpful facts. Nihil and Rat are dedicated to many things, and some of those things happen here. Do you like things? We have some. If you are concerned with modern terrors, undermining consensus reality, or building cartoons, we can get along- and as everyone knows, getting along is fun.
Does some degree of prolific, physical iconoclasm sound neat? Do you hate your epoch? Would you prefer to negate positivism? We are also interested in forming alliances. Let us know how you feel, but do not get into too much detail, as we are not really that interested.
We can be friends, if you believe so, unless we tell you otherwise.
What is all of this crap, then? Nihil and Rat is based on various things, with Flash Animation at the centre of it all. It is somewhat possible that you have seen our work in the Newgrounds Street Fighter Collab (2009), or the Newgrounds Metal Gear Collab (2008). Because video game parodies are all anyone likes, our most popular cartoons are based around games, even though that is not what what we really want to focus on. These cartoons are Metal Gear Solid Life Alarm (2008), Pyramid Head’s #1 Fan (2006), and to a lesser extent, Persona 4 I Can’t Wait (2009). All of these are available on our Youtube account, too.
Our influences are in the Absurd, Dada, dreams, bad movies, Troma, Suda51, Hideki Kamiya, Hideo Kojima, Salvador Dali, Lewis Carroll, Shinichirō Watanabe, Mike Judge, Rene Magritte, FSc, FLCL, Chris Nolan, Wes Anderson, Tim & Eric, PFFR, Augenblick, Tim Burton, Mike Mignola, and recently, the Bizarro Genre.
What others have said about our work:
“that was the first time i actually laughed at a flash animation” -r3con
“I really enjoyed this flash. It had me laughing all the way through… I loved it. keep up the good work.” -BigFatty
“That was amazing… Art work was above average and voice acting was hysterical… will be one that Newgrounds.com will remember in years to come.” -Thephalkinparadox
“it was akward and the guy was creepy like an anorexic blue man, and as others have said it wasnt funny, awesome or anything” -firehawk320
“If this is the only [Persona 4] cartoon on the internet, then the internet has failed me. I don’t know whether you were trying to make this funny, awesome, or related to the game, but it did not come close to any of the mentioned categories. Not to mention the way the weird alien-thing said ‘Persona’ was just plain stupid. I’d hit someone in the face for saying it like that.
The only plus on this movie was the art, but it didn’t add to whatever the point of this flash was. To be blatantly honest, the description for this flash was more interesting than the flash itself. It didn’t even seem like you were trying very hard on this. You have a good art style, but nothing is contributing to anything in this.
In general, I give you a B+ in art, a D in deliverance, and an F in story.” -TheFalzarBeast
“Crappy salad fingers rip off… glad your animating skills got better since this…” -MrKrysis
“Just can’t put a movie this (i am sorry) stupid!! I hope there wouldnt be such movies again” -DivineArcher
“I can easily compare this cartoon to Napolean Dynamite because it is so random and has no plot or good characters. Randomness does not make you a poetic genius.” -dMORR
“what the hell were you on when you created this flash? cause i could really use some other than that, wtf? dude that flash sucked no plot, fairly bad animation, and crappy humor. no… just no” -Blackhawkdown
“this was a bit off. the animation wasn’t that awesome(a bit weird if you ask me), and so is the story.” -Benhammer
